Blessed Assurance

"Blessed Assurance" is a popular hymn written by Fanny Crosby and composed by Phoebe Palmer Knapp. It was first published in 1873 and has been a beloved hymn for over 150 years.

The hymn's lyrics express the believer's confidence and joy in the assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It speaks of the Christian's relationship with Jesus as a personal and intimate one, and the peace and comfort that comes from knowing that Jesus is always with us and that we are held safely in his hands.

Blessed Assurance Lyrics

[Verse 1:]

"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood."

[Chorus:]

"This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long;

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long."

[Verse 2:]

"Perfect submission, perfect delight,

Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;

Angels descending bring from above

Echoes of mercy, whispers of love."

[Verse 3:]

"Perfect submission, all is at rest,

I in my Savior am happy and blest,

Watching and waiting, looking above,

Filled with His goodness, lost in His love."
